Life Coaching FAQ
How does “Life Coaching” work?
Life Coaching is a process whereby you work with another person (your Life Coach) to assist you in getting to where you want to be in life. The process includes
- Clarifying your goals
- Identifying your barriers to success
- Developing action plans to remove those barriers
- Following up, encouraging and refining over a series of sessions
Life Coaching works because your Coach helps you to focus your thoughts, emotions and actions in a way that’s almost impossible to do alone. For more information, see the Life Coaching page.
Aren’t I doing “Life Coaching” when I discuss my problems or goals with my family and friends?
Your family and friends are a wonderful resource, which Life Coaching is not intended to replace. However, there are a couple of important differences between Life Coaching and talking with family and friends. Firstly, your Life Coach is objective. As a professional, your Coach wants one thing – to help YOU achieve success. Family and friends find it very difficult to have the same level of objectivity as your Coach.
Secondly, Life Coaching is a professional service. Just like other professionals such as psychologists, lawyers or accountants, your Life Coach draws on theoretical and practical skills, as well as experience, to provide you with a high-quality, professional service. Life Coaching is intended to augment input from your family and friends, helping you to achieve what you want, faster.
What kinds of people take Life Coaching?
Life Coaching is as diverse as the people that take it. Life Coaching is not only for very “ambitious” or “driven” executives…it’s also extremely beneficial for all kinds of people interested in enjoying more success and happiness.
The central theme of Life Coaching is “solutions for success”. Because this theme is broad, we see many types of clients. However, some common patterns are:
- Businesspeople who seek to achieve their professional goals
- People in important “transition stages”, such as school leavers, recent graduates, recently married or divorced people, or people of retirement age who aren’t ready to retire and are looking for a new direction.
- Business owners and entrepreneurs who desire increased success in their business.
- Couples and families seeking to improve the way they communicate.
What is the cost and time commitment for Life Coaching?
My fee is $60 per 1-hour consultation. You can take as many or as few sessions as you like. However, because Coaching is an ongoing process in which follow up and fine tuning is extremely beneficial to you, I recommend you take a series of sessions fortnightly or monthly. But of course, the number of sessions you take is entirely up to how much value you think you’re getting out of my services.
I’m still not convinced. How can I be sure that Life Coaching will work for me?
The only way to experience the benefits of Life Coaching is to give it a try, even for one session. Once you get a chance to meet me and experience how I work, you’ll know whether or not Life Coaching is for you.
Whenever you try anything new, you enter the unknown. But with that comes the opportunity to grow and change. I’m proud to say that the vast majority of my Life Coaching clients experience positive growth and change from my Coaching services, and I’m confident you will too. Why not set up an initial consultation with me and give it a try?
Counselling FAQ
What is the difference between “Coaching” and “Counselling”?
There is actually some overlap between Coaching and Counselling. Both processes are aimed at helping you achieve greater happiness and fulfilment. However, the focus of Coaching and Counselling is a little different. Counselling tends to concentrate on solving a problem. For example, overcoming anxiety, self-esteem or difficult relationship issues. On the other hand, Coaching is more focused on goal-achievement. I realize that their may be some crossover between the two services, so I offer one flat fee of $60 per session for either Coaching or Counselling.
Can I involve others in Counselling?
Of course. Particularly with relationship or family counselling, small group sessions can be extremely productive.
What is the cost and time commitment for Counselling?
My fee for Counselling is $60 per 1-hour session. The time between sessions will vary, but one session every fortnight or month is the norm.
How do I know if Counselling is right for me?
The only way to know that is to give it a try. If you’re burdened by problems it often helps to talk with a professional such as myself. Trying counselling could be taking that first critical step toward healing and growth. Please contact me to arrange your confidential appointment.
